Cinema St. Louis (CSL) is committed to maintaining an environment that is accessible, positive, entertaining, safe, respectful, and free of harassment and discrimination. This Code of Conduct Policy applies to everyone at the Hi-Pointe Theatre, fest venues, and participants in CSL’s social media channels (please refer to CSL’s social media policy). We reserve the right to remove or ban anyone who violates the Code of Conduct.

Application

This policy applies to:

Board of Directors, Employees, Contracted staff, Interns and Volunteers, Filmmakers, Theater patrons, Donors, Press, Vendors, and Students

General Guidelines

All persons listed above are expected to:

  • Be polite, kind, inclusive, courteous, and respectful toward one another and to the audience members/visitors to the Hi-Pointe Theatre and fest venues. All those affiliated with CSL are ambassadors in the community, and their behavior must reflect this.
  • Refrain from using inappropriate or offensive language while at CSL events and venues. 
  • Respect CSL’s premises and property (and any spaces and property CSL may use). Please help to keep the Hi-Pointe Theatre appearance clean, tidy, and professional.

Anti-Discrimination Policy

CSL is committed to maintaining an environment free from discrimination, victimization, harassment, and bullying. This Code of Conduct sets out the behavior that CSL expects from Board members, staff, volunteers, filmmakers, patrons, donors, vendors, and other representatives.

CSL aims to ensure that all those affiliated with CSL receive equal treatment irrespective of:

  • Gender (including gender identity)
  • Marital or civil partnership status
  • Sexual orientation
  • Race, skin color, ethnicity, or national origin
  • Religious beliefs
  • Pregnancy
  • Disability

Harassment

Although safety can be different for each individual due to personal preferences or expressed identities, CSL defines it as an environment that is free of harassment and discrimination based on sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, gender performance, race, ethnicity, nationality, religion, class, age, or ability. Harassment, threatening behavior, and violence will not be tolerated.

Drug-Free Environment

Cinema St. Louis, the Hi-Pointe Theatre, the Backlot, and fest venues are substance-free environments. Drugs and alcohol are prohibited on CSL property and at events. Consumption, distribution, possession, or use of controlled substances at a CSL venue or event is a violation of this policy, and depending on the severity of the situation, those in violation will be asked to leave the event or premises and/or asked not to return.

  • ADA accommodations for access to venues, restrooms, seating, and assistive devices for those who are hearing and visually impaired

Quality Entertainment

Help Cinema St. Louis preserve the art of community film presentation. When attending a CSL film screening, fest, or event, please refrain from:

  • Phone use (calls, texting)
  • Silence smart devices
  • Talking
  • Blocking aisles or the views for those behind you
