Tender caresses and enveloping embraces are portals into the life of Mack, a Black woman in Mississippi. Winding through the anticipation, love, and heartbreak she experiences from childhood to adulthood, the expressionist journey is an ode to connection – with loved ones and with place. This expressionistic drama is dreamlike in its relationships with time and memory, ebbing and flowing as would a slow but mighty river. Director Raven Jackson is an award-winning filmmaker, poet, and photographer. Her work often explores landscapes of indefinable experiences and emotions, as well as the body’s relationship to nature. This film premiered at the 2023 Sundance Film Festival.
